appearance↴ Velia is slim, somewhat curvy, with a pretty face that she uses to her advantage. She has wavy blonde hair that reaches mid-back, and long side-swept bangs. During downtime on the ship, this hair is worn down. Though she tends to be smaller than many of her colleagues, she compensates for this by the way she behaves and dresses. Her outfits tend to boisterous, without being obnoxiously so. It's not uncommon for those she walks past to pause in their conversations and give her a once-over. Though she rarely has the time for makeup, it is impeccably done when applied. Some refer to her obsession with looking good as vain. Velia usually says in response: superficiality is just like anything else in the universe. Subjective. Nothing like what it seems. During missions, she typically wears a metal bustier with a mesh skirt. This varies on the mission type, and what Liv may insist she wear based upon the planet they're visiting. Her hair is loosely styled in haphazard braids with colorful feathers weaved throughout. A tiara-like headpiece sits atop her head, and when activated, it turns into a half-mask reminiscent of a bird. Other things of note about her appearance: there are tattoos all along her arms, torso, and legs, which glow blue--much like her eyes--when casting magic. Metal gloves with built in claws are a default with her outfits, be it on the ship, or during missions. They're a mixture of visual aesthetic and practicality, based upon her magical focus. She also wears a necklace with five gems, though what the necklace's purpose is remains unknown. She brushes her fingers against one, or all, of the gems before casting a necromancy spell, so many on the Tiamat suspect that these gems house ghostly familiars. Why else would she constantly be addressing 'Horace' all the time?

abilities↴ While most children of the universe partook in innocent games native to their planet, Velia learned about the gruesomeness of death. Young eyes witnessed how easily a body could crumble. They saw how bitterness could morph a spirit from kind-hearted to cruel. What allows her to see and communicate with ghosts so easily, when others have to fight both tooth and nail to perfect the spell to bridge the gap between living and dead, is unknown. House Death seized her up when she displayed the maturity and fluency required of their level of spellcasting. She took these teachings--and those of other houses along the way--and morphed them into her own unique style, complimenting her personality. If you need magical tattoos, Velia's your girl. If you're mad enough to want to communicate with the dead, she's also your girl. Or, if you want to see how a Necromancer can form a bond between the dead and living, perhaps you might be interested in watching her reanimate a corpse. She has some experience with Cultist Magic, but is not one of the prominent figures in this area of study.

background↴ There are those on the ship who have known her all her life, and there are others who know of her. Out of all these people, only one person repeatedly appears throughout Velia's history: Liv. It's atypical to see one without the other. Her reputation as a necromancer is not one she has actively cultivated. Her magical capabilities are there, a tool to be used to fulfill her job and nothing more, which is why she hasn't risen in ranks beyond what she's (lazily) earned. Being the 8th of Cups may carry prestige; she thinks it's lame that she doesn't get special shower privileges on the ship because of her awesomeness. She's also held protests over this.

personality↴ "You don't bite people... and you don't bring a knife to a fist fight!" Velia's guilty of doing both over the course of her life. She's scrappy, yet elegant. Boisterous, yet poised. The girl is an uninhibited, free-spirited, impulsive creature who thrives on living in the moment. A mixture of contradictions that will make someone's head spin if they ever try to understand what makes her tick. Unless she wants something from you, she’s a total selfish butt. How people respond to her loud-mouthed, abrasive image reveals a lot about who they really are. Though which sort of response she prefers will remain a mystery. Ultimately, whether she likes or dislikes a person will be a crapshoot, dependent on far too many unknowns that not even she can distinguish, half the time.
